Modern Country Blues (or Americana)

Modern Country Blues (or Americana), this direction is extremely diversified! Blues added with elements of American folk, country, southern rock, bluegrass and zydeco, in the end we received piece of some pretty farmer music with the western volume sounding that could be called for brevity; and, personally for myself, I call it the Rancho Blues music.

In no other Blues direction you will ever find the same variety of guitar sounding that is used in the Modern Country Blues (or Americana)! In addition to the traditional acoustic guitar, the still slide guitar, lap style guitar, as well as certainly the Dobro guitar is widely used! Whenever you watch a movie devoted to the American nature or a widescreen Western, you will surely hear it, the beautiful Dobro guitar!

Music in this genre is simple and elegant with deep and rich sounding that is associated with endless prairie, fearsome and majestic canyons, trampling mustangs and bisons … condors hovering in a bright blue sky, and, of course, with a farmer sitting on the porch of his rancho with a guitar and selflessly singing a country blues …

Icon figures in the Country Blues Modern or Americana:

J.J. Cale, Mark Knopfler, Gurf Morlix, Hans Theessink, John Fogerty, Brian Kramer, Christine Lakeland, John Mayer, John Illsley, Lucinda Williams, Danny Brooks, Malcolm Holcombe, Hank Shizzoe, Guy Davis, Jimmy Nail, Peter Karp, Ray Bonneville, James Taylor, Johnny Sansone, Dave Alvin, Willie May, Albert Lee, Jorma Kaukonen, Brendan Croker, Arlen Roth, Vince Gill, Lance Canales …

Besides, I would like to mention the bands that made their invaluable contribution to this genre: Little Feat, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Mungo Jerry, Big House, Delta Moon, Great American Taxi, Lynyrd Skynyrd (acoustic), Kentucky Headhunters, Underdogs, Cumberland River Band, Dixie Tabernacle and many others.

If we are talking about musicians playing in all the Blues genres (from traditional to heavy), I would like to note one issue: almost all of them include the style Modern Country Blues compositions in their repertoire, which pleases their admirers and beautifies their albums!
